The latest service update for Google products was released at the end of October 2011. In this short article we will focus on newly added features of Google´s application.

Modern look

User interface of Gmail, Documents, Calendar and many other services becomes more pleasant. Google follows new visual trend and modifies design of all offered Google´s services. It´s clear that Google tries to adapt its user interface to tablets and other touch screen devices. Buttons are large and the whole control is easy to understand. But on the other hand additional settings are hidden and hard to find.

Google+ pages

Why not to take a successful and workable concept and modify it to an own product? Now you are able to compare differences between Facebook Pages and G+ Pages and choose which one of them is better. Look at this promotional video: http://youtu.be/ozxfUtgySlo.

Google Plus is a growing network and additional features are added everyday. At the present time is unfortunately contrary to Facebook pages, overall impression a bit poor. It is also not possible to create a nice url address. Facebook Pages allow you to modify its url address (username) to meet your requirements (http://www.facebook.com/yourdomain). Google+ pages create a mess like “http://plus.google.com/x/x/xxxxxxxxxxxxx/xxx”. We hope that this will be fixed in the following months.

Overall conclusion

Each product is out of date after a certain period. Google tries to improve its own service portfolio according to modern requirements but understands that customers are used to the layout of functions of a product as well. Google Apps can be used thanks to the new look easier than before. The question is how quickly can users adapt to this new interface?
What we know sure is that Google+ Pages service is necessary to be improved to attract companies. To repeat the success of Facebook will be difficult.
